Idan Sharabi
founder of 'Idan Sharabi and Dancers', was born in Israel.
After his high school training in Thelma Yellin, he was accepted to The Juilliard School in New York.
Upon his graduation he won The Zeraspe Award for "Best Juiliard Choreographer of 2006" and started his career dancing for The Nederlands Dans Teater in Holland.
There he was chosen as one of the 'NDT Upcoming Choreographers' for 2010 and his choreography was recognized and appreciated. Sharabi returned to Israel and entered The Batsheva Dance Company. He created the evening "Home" which was greatly reviewed and then, he was invited to create for The Israeli Opera House's dance company "TheProject".
Last season, Sharabi created for The Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (Israel) as well as Ballet Junior de Geneve (Switzerland). In April 12', he won the 2nd place in The Copenhagen International Choreography Competition, in Denmark, for his duo, Rak 2 and then created for the Noord Nederlandse Dans (Holland).
Throughout the last two years Sharabi has been teaching and creating as well for schools, such as Cont. Dance School Hamburg, Gothenburg Ballet Academy, Alvin Ailey School, The Maslool Dance Program, The Sadna in Ga'aton, Israel, and more.
This year Sharabi was chosen to be one of the 9 promising young artists of Israel by American Express.
This summer Sharabi was creating for The Israeli Ballet, Zhukov Dance Theater SF, California, and performing his duo, Adar, in Dansk Danse Teater Festival - 'Copenhagen Summer Dance 2013'.
Recently, 'Idan Sharabi and Dancers' were invited to The Belgrade Dance Festival (Serbia), as well as the ilDance Gala evening, in Sweden, where they toured with the new creation
Joni Solos Series. This season 'Idan Sharabi and Dancers' premiered 3 works, a full evening program by Sharabi in Suzanne Dellal Theater in Tel aviv, Israel. Immediately after that, they were invited to perform it again in the Maholohet Summer Dance Festival in Tel aviv.
